Sarandarion Monastery

Here you can explore the Biblical sites such as the Mount of Temptation, Monastery of Saint Gerasimos, and the Spring of Elisha, Hisham Palace, Wadi Qelt, St. George’s Monastery and much more.

Throughout history, Jericho has been an important trading post for those on their way to the Jordan Valley. Today, Jericho is still well known as a trading center for agricultural produce of dates, citrus fruits and much more. Today I will take you on a tour to experience the magnificence of The Mount Of Temptation, a true natural masterpiece. It is only a short 15-minute morning hike up the mountain starting from Temptation Center by Ancient Jericho. The destination is The Greek Orthodox Church “Sarandarion Monastery” was built in 1985 (the name refers to the 40 days of Jesus’ fast). This is where Jesus Christ fasted for 40 days after being baptized in the Jordan River. Once you get to the top the views across the hills are fantastic.
