as long as I can remember I have loved serving
customers. When I was eight years old I would
hoist a large pan filled with Arabian deserts
on my shoulder and call out for people to “come and get” the
Years later I began working in restaurants. Seeing
families enjoying a great meal and praising me
for my service was extremely rewarding. That’s
when I knew I was in a business that makes people
happy. At the same time that business was allowing
me to share my love of food.
Once I realized that, I strived to become the best
I could be at operating a restaurant. I learned
by keeping a watchful eye on the chefs working
in the kitchens of the restaurants where I worked.
It was there that I mastered their recipes and
secrets for creating delicious meals.
At the age of 30 I had garnered enough money and
experience to start my own restaurant. With the
love and support of my wife, Maha, we worked hand
in hand to open our little café—Al
Raed Al Arabie—in downtown Jericho in 1973.
My love for my work and my passion for providing
for our four young children helped make the café a
huge success. To this day, the locals still talk
about waiting in line for our famous rotisserie
Success led us to sell the café in the late
1970s and move to our current location. The Mount
of Temptation Restaurant is situated at the gateway
to the world’s oldest city—Jericho.
Again, we started small, knowing if we stayed together
and remained true to our hearts we would succeed.
Now called The Temptation Tourist Center of Jericho,
the restaurant can accommodate 1,500 guests and
boasts the largest international food buffet in
the Holy Land. The Center also features a café,
souvenir and ceramic shops and a product center
that carries a large selection of Dead Sea items.
We thank God, our staff and our guests—all
of whom we like to call family—for our success.
They also are the ones who serve as a constant
reminder of why we are in this business—to
make people happy.
We hope you enjoy your visit to The Temptation
Tourist Center of Jericho.
